ALWAYS A LOT GOING ON IN STAUNTON!

So much to do here!

As always, the Guided Tours are wonderful. You can do the free walking tour or take the trolley tour! The Playhouse Tour of the Blackfriars’ Theater is on week day mornings at 11:00 and 2:00 in the afternoon. On Saturday, the Playhouse tour is at 11:00 only since there’s a matinee performance.

In case you don’t know, we have live theater ALL year. The theater is only dark on Monday and Tuesday nights, generally. Here’s their website: http://www.AmericanShakespeareCenter.com.

Don’t forget our Farmers’ Markets on Saturday morning downtown and on Wednesday afternoon in Verona (a few minutes drive).

So many restaurants have live entertainment in Downtown Staunton! And what WONDERFUL restaurants we have. Staunton is becoming known as a “foodie” destination. We’re being written up in magazines all over the place. People are coming here for the fine dining and the extraordinary Shakespeare theater.

And all afternoon on this Saturday, enjoy “Staunton Jams” and hear many different performances throughout downtown Staunton.

Hamlet, The Tempest, and The Importance of Being Earnest are all playing at the theater.

There are usually wine tastings somewhere in the area. There are daily wine tastings by Barren Ridge Vineyards at Sunspots Studios — where you can also watch live glassblowing daily until 4:00 p.m. There are wine tastings by Ox-Eye Vineyards in their tasting room downtown. Often, there are tastings on Friday nights at the Wine Cellar and wine tastings elsewhere as well. We’ll let you know when you check-in.

Many of our guests like to drive around and visit the wineries.  Also, we aren’t far from some of the most beautiful natural wonders:  caves, Natural Bridge, the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, just to name a few.

You might want to go horseback riding (only $35.hour).  Or how about a balloon ride over the Valley?

Many of our guests want to be pampered.  We’ve worked out a great Pampering Special for you at one of our favorite Day Spas.  Be sure to say you want this when you call because you’ll need an appointment.

Another favorite thing to do is to go antiquing!  We have MANY, MANY antique shops in and around Staunton . . . and I can recommend personally a lot of them. Whether you want antique jewelry, glassware, wonderful old furniture, or maybe art or old books . . . whatever you want, I bet you’ll enjoy exploring the various antique shops in Staunton and all around this area!

Don’t forget about daily tours at The Frontier Culture Museum (self guided) and at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library.

COMING: The African American Heritage Festival September 17 – 18; and on Friday, September 23,  and Saturday,  September 24,  you can attend The Fortune Williams Music Festival.  For ticket information and reservations, call (540) 332-7850.

There are always lots of wonderful exhibits at our art galleries. Did you know that Downtown Staunton has nine art galleries? Plus, there are additional galleries and exhibits throughout the rest of the town.

Come and ENJOY all that Staunton has to offer! What an amazing town this is!!!!

Safe and happy travels!
Carolyn
